Honeywell's UOP starts Renewable Energy and Chemicals unit
UOP LLC, a subsidiary of Honeywell International, has announced the formation of its Renewable Energy and Chemicals business unit. The unit, directed by Jennifer Holmgren, is charged with providing new or adapted technology for processing renewable energy sources in petroleum refineries. Additionally, UOP's development efforts have targeted the creation of transportation fuels that can be used with existing diesel and gasoline infrastructure. Such efforts include UOP technologies that can convert vegetable oils to high-cetane diesel fuel and the conversion of glycerol to propylene glycol.
