Shell, Argent Energy team up to meet New Zealand's biofuel goal

By | April 06, 2007
Shell New Zealand and Argent Energy New Zealand Ltd. have signed a letter of intent in preparation for meeting New Zealand's mandated introduction of biofuels by 2008. Argent operates a large-scale biodiesel plant in Scotland, and Shell is the world's largest distributor of biofuels. Argent plans to build a plant that will process 75,000 metric tons of raw material per year, producing 85 million liters (22 MMgy) of biodiesel. The feedstock will be animal fat from meat-processing waste.
