Kansas City recognized for alternative fuel use

By | April 25, 2007
Kansas City, Mo., was given the Oxygen Award 2007 at the Alternative Fuels & Vehicles 2007 conference in April. Kansas City was recently ranked by SustainLane as the No. 3 city in the United States that uses alternative fuels, which it has done since 1996. In addition to the use of compressed natural gas vehicles in various departments, the city's water department began using biodiesel in more than 900 diesel-powered vehicles. The city also collaborates on alternative fuels research and development with the University of Missouri-Columbia and the Midwest Research Institute.
