Global Renewable Energy Network Corp. (GREEN), a Richmond, British Columbia-based biofuels company that delivers small-scale batch biodiesel processing units to rural communities that use indigenous feedstocks, sent its leadership team to Autopetro, an event in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on May 21-25.
According to Wilfred Victoria, vice president of marketing and communications for GREEN, the event provided a networking opportunity for businesses in Vietnam and Southeast Asia that are interested in serving the rapidly growing automotive market that anticipates using various biodiesel blends in the region. Vietnam is currently active in the production of biodiesel feedstocks as the region strives to find cost-effective alternative energy solutions. "We attended because we know that eventually automobile manufacturers will be coming out with 'green' cars using biodiesel extensively," Victoria said. "So, we're positioning ourselves there for people to know about us and our services."
GREEN, a joint venture formed by SITTM Technologies Inc. and TriBiotech Resources Ltd., introduced the company's Greenstar 1000 biodiesel batch processing equipment to various Vietnamese automobile dealers during the event. The system, which is adaptable for community-level biodiesel production, can use multiple feedstocks with up to 5 percent free-fatty-acid levels. The two companies hope their expertise in foreign market penetration and alternative energy will provide a strategic advantage that harnesses the opportunity for expansive growth in the new venture. "We're not like the typical big biodiesel refinery-type that costs millions of dollars," Victoria said. "We're basically a community-level biodiesel production organization able to offer biodiesel equipment and business to end-users-the farmers who can use it and sell the biodiesel, too."
