Several more biodiesel companies have achieved the highest level of industry-recognized quality assurance, a sign that quality remains a top commitment among the nation's biodiesel producers. The National Biodiesel Accreditation Commission most recently recognized REG-Houston LLC, Nittany Biodiesel, High Plains BioEnergy and Biox Canada as BQ-9000 biodiesel producers. In addition, Global Companies LLC earned BQ-9000 Marketer status.
"BQ-9000 Producer status is one of the ways REG (Renewable Energy Group Inc.) biodiesel production facilities are working to satisfy quality demands of the RFS2's obligated parties, pipeline operators, original equipment manufacturers and diesel-powered equipment across the country," said Gary Haer, REG's vice president of sales and marketing.
BQ-9000 is a voluntary fuel quality assurance program overseen by the NABC and adopted by the NBB and the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association. BQ-9000 couples the foundations of universally accepted quality management systems with the product specification, ASTM D6751.
There are currently 37 biodiesel production facilities certified as producers under the program and 18 certified as marketers.
