May US biodiesel output strong at 115 million gallons
The U.S. EPA said June 21 that 114.9 million gallons of biodiesel were produced in May, reporting year-to-date production of nearly 445.9 million gallons through the end of May.
Biodiesel production is reported under the EPA's biomass-based diesel category in the renewable fuel standard. EPA numbers show a total of 120.9 million gallons of biomass-based diesel for the month of May, but that figure also includes renewable diesel.
Last year, the biodiesel industry set a new production record of nearly 1.1 billion gallons, supporting more than 39,000 jobs across the country.

1Why are the National Biodiesel Board production numbers so much lower? How do we get to these numbers with plants shutting down?

2Hey Dan, the EPA doesn't break down the monthly volumes by fuel type (biodiesel and renewable diesel) but they do provide a breakdown of the year-to-date volumes in each category by fuel type. EMTS shows 120.9 mg of biomass-based diesel reported for May. NBB just broke out the biodiesel volume for the month from EMTS numbers to show the 114.9 mg of biodiesel production with the remaining 6 mg of biomass-based diesel for the month being renewable diesel.

3Brison,The site also entails the ngtieave aspect that the green energy costs more because of low availability and technology costs, if we keep spreading the word of programs like these, maybe they will catch on.Here's a little pitch I found on the site that gives a positive outlook on the costs: Businesses that purchase Green Energy can improve customer relations, enhance their corporate image and can positively impact the community in which they operate.
