Although German foreign trade in biodiesel was not quite as brisk in 2015 as a year earlier, export figures published by the German Federal Statistical Office verify that interest in biodiesel from Germany continued to be high.
German 2015 biodiesel exports amounted to more than 1.43 million tons (429.3 million gallons). Consequently, exports were down 16 percent from the 2014 record, but still exceeded the long-term mean. Slightly less than 90 percent of deliveries traditionally went to EU member states.
Above all, the Czech Republic and Sweden ordered more than usual, whereas top recipients such as the Netherlands, Poland and France imported less. According to the German Federal Statistical Office, Norway was the most important third country, importing almost 128,000 tons (38.4 million gallons). This translates to a virtually 50 percent increase from a year earlier.

At the same time, German demand for foreign biodiesel dropped by approximately 11 percent, to 517,000 tons (155.2 million gallons). This was to the lowest level on record, Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (mbH) reports. Malaysia supplied 132,000 tons (39.6 million gallons), just over one-third more than in 2014.
