BP to produce Australian biodiesel

By | June 01, 2006
British Petroleum (BP) recently announced plans to introduce tallow-derived B5 into Australia's fuel supply. The production is aimed at helping the country meet its target of 350 million liters (925,000 gallons) of renewables in its fuel supply by 2010. BP will produce approximately 2 billion liters (530 million gallons) of B5-blended diesel fuel annually at its Bulwer, Queensland, refinery. BP plans to use an internally developed hydrogenation technology to produce the biodiesel. Details on BP's hydrogenation process were unavailable at press time.
