New, improved biodiesel plant map, website coming soon
Keeping an independent database of U.S. and Canadian biodiesel plants is no easy task. It requires major due diligence, research, a series of cross-checks, hundreds, perhaps thousands of calls per year, to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information possible. We here at Biodiesel Magazine are entrenched in our most comprehensive outreach effort to date for our printed 2014 U.S. and Canada Biodiesel Plant Map.
Kolby Hoagland, BBI International’s program and data manager, along with Sue Conroe, veteran BBI speaker logistics coordinator, and I are calling hundreds of plant owners and managers as part of this effort, so if you get a message from one of us, whether your plant is operational, idled or no longer in existence, we implore you to return our calls to help us portray your facility, and the industry, as accurately as possible.
I personally have had some great conversations with existing and former biodiesel plant owners as part of this outreach. It’s always interesting to hear about the exciting, new developments underway in biodiesel plants big and small across the U.S. and Canada. The diversity of this industry, as I have said numerous times in the past, never ceases to amaze me. The ingenuity employed at these facilities is truly remarkable.
But the effort we are undertaking will not stop at our printed map, to be published later this year. We are also changing database platforms for our new online map, which will debut in the coming weeks as we roll out our new website.
Many plants have changed hands over the past year, and we are also finding new information on some facilities that we were unable to verify in previous editions of the printed map. Encouragingly, we have also seen several new projects break ground. Once our efforts are complete, we hope to share more detailed information about changes we have documented in the process. Until then, if you receive a call from Kolby, Sue or me in the coming week, please find a few minutes to connect with us.
