Akash Energy Inc., a new player in the Houston energy sector, recently acquired two Houston GasCard stations that currently offer E10 and B20. Akash will be rebranding the stations as “Root Fuels” in the coming months, the company says. As part of the rebranding efforts, Akash will be adding additional pumps to offer B100.
“As a leading provider of competitively priced sustainable fuels, we are committed to empowering Americans to choose how they fuel their lives,” said Akash Energy’s founder and CEO Justin Heller. “We believe consumers and businesses want to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to energy independence, but do not have the choice to do so. By accepting all major fleet and credit cards, as well as offering competitively priced fuel, we are taking the first step in providing all consumers access to cleaner burning, sustainable fuels.” Heller noted that vertical integration is key to the success of Akash Energy in creating affordable, renewable fuel options.
The two Houston stations, located at 5715 S. Wayside Drive and 9505 Wallisville Road, are strategically located off of highway 610. The Wallisville station is located at the intersection of 610 North and I-10 East, and the Wayside station is located at the intersection of 610 South and I-45 South. As part of their efforts to increase public access to sustainable fuels, the stations now accept the following major fleet and credit cards: Fleet One, WEX (Wright Express), Fleet Wide, Fuelman / Fuelman Plus, JCB, MasterCard / MasterCard Fleet, Visa / Visa Fleet, Voyager, and GasCard. Within the next few weeks, the stations will also be accepting ComData.

Akash’s downstream division, Root Fuel, is a network of retail fueling stations launching in March 2014, which will be supported by integrated production and distribution assets, offering consumers cost-effective sustainable fuels.
