Global group acquires Scottish biodiesel producer Argent Energy

John Swire & Sons (Green Investments) Ltd. has acquired Scottish biodiesel producer Argent Energy for an undisclosed sum. The plant uses BDI-BioEnergy International technology to convert used cooking oil, tallow and sewer grease to biodiesel.

Rhode Island passes statewide Bioheat requirement

Bioheat is gaining traction in the Northeast. Starting July 1, 2014, every gallon of oil heat in the state of Rhode Island will contain at least 2 percent biodiesel. The legislation gradually increases the blend from 2 percent to 5 percent by 2017.
