Companies partner with Innovation Fuels

New York-based Innovation Fuels is partnering with Tanco Milwaukee LLC to form Innovation Fuels Tanco Milwaukee to operate a 312,000-barrel (13.1-million gallon) terminal in the Port of Milwaukee. The USDA and U.S. DOE issued a joint funding opportunity announcement on Jan. 30, stating that up to $25 million will be granted to the research and development of technologies and processes to produce biofuels, bioenergy and high-value biobased products.READ MORE

As part of Iowa-based Renewable Energy Group Inc.'s national infrastructure plan, it has opened a new biodiesel blending terminal in Alamosa, Colo., which will provide the company's trademarked REG-9000 brand of biodiesel.READ MORE

Japan Airlines passenger jet tests biofuel

During a 90-minute demonstration flight from Tokyo on Jan. 30, Japan Airlines tested using a mixture of biofuel, produced using camelina, jatropha and algae oils. One of the Boeing 747-300 aircraft's four Pratt & Whitney JT9D engines was fueled with a 50-percent biofuel mixture and 50-percent traditional kerosene-based Jet-A fuel.READ MORE
