China Bio Energy reacts to Chinese market changes

As of Jan. 1, a new pricing regime for refined oil product went into effect in China. According to biodiesel producer and distributor China Bio Energy Holdings Group, the new scheme aims to link domestic oil prices closer to the changes in global oil markets in a "controlled manner."READ MORE

Company produces glycerin-based fuel

A Virginia-based company will soon begin commercial production of two respective glycerin-based liqud fuels. Bayer CropScience, IPK to develop canola hybrids

Bayer CropScience and the German Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) recently announced the formation of a research agreement to develop modified, high-yielding canola hybrids. Canola oil is used as a feestock for biodiesel production.READ MORE

Shell awards prize for algae-to-biodiesel process

Scottish Bioenergy Cooperative Ventures has been awarded the 40,000 ($57,000) Climate Change Innovation Prize from Royal Dutch Shell PLC's Shell Springboard program. Based in St. Cyrus, Scotland, the company builds, sells and operates photobioreactors for capturing carbon dioxide emissions to grow algae feedstock for biodiesel production.READ MORE

Gorge Analytical inspecting Portland, Ore., biodiesel

Gorge Analytical LLC, a biodiesel testing laboratory in Hood River, Ore., has been hired by the Bureau of Development Services for the city of Portland, Ore., to sample and test B100 produced within the state or imported for blending with petroleum diesel. The testing is being conducted to ensure the fuel meets applicable ASTM standards.READ MORE

RSB to host Iowa, D.C. stakeholder meetings

The Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels has scheduled a second round of public consultations in Iowa and Washington, D.C., to receive feedback on Version Zero of the draft Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Biofuels. New Generation to test biofuel at chemical plant

New Generation Biofuels Holdings Inc. plans to evaluate its biofuel at Delta Chemical Corp.'s Baltimore facility. The fuel will be tested in Delta Chemical's Cleaver-Brooks boiler system, which has been predominately powered by natural gas.READ MORE
