German biodiesel exports of 2.3 million tons in 2019 break record


German foreign trade in biodiesel reached new record levels in 2019, both in imports and exports. Above all, exports were strikingly high, cracking the mark of 2 million tons for the first time and reaching 2.3 million tons, an 18 percent increase.

Brazil diesel fuel now contains minimum of 12 percent biodiesel


The minimum content of biodiesel in Brazil’s diesel fuel went from 11 to 12 percent March 1, as established by regulations to increase by 1 percent a year until hitting 15 percent in March 2023. In September, bio content went from 10 to 11 percent.

Swedish firm Södra delivers biomethanol to Danish biodiesel maker


Södra has built a commercial biomethanol plant at its pulp mill in Mönsterås, Sweden. An initial pilot delivery in late February was expected to go to Emmelev A/S, a Danish customer that will be using biomethanol in its biodiesel production.

Norco, Louisiana-based renewable diesel producer Diamond Green Diesel has entered into a long-term lease agreement with International-Matex Tank Terminals, which will allow DGD access and use of IMTT’s St. Rose terminal as a logistics hub.

U.S. EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler said Feb. 27 the agency will soon issue new guidance on the RFS’s small refinery exemption (SRE) program related to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit’s Jan. 27 ruling that struck down three SREs.
