BDI reports financial interest in biodiesel plant construction on the rise

The European construction firm that has built many plants on four continents, BioDiesel International AG headquartered in Grambach, Austria, is seeing financial interest growing in new projects again after an extended credit crunch since the global recession started. Several factors are spurring new construction and investor confidence, including greater yields, the ability to meet stricter quality standards and ever increasing feedstock flexibility, said Oberzaucher Bernd, BDI marketing and communications manager. Dynamic Fuels selects Emerson as process control provider

Dynamic Fuels LLC, a 75 MMgy renewable diesel plant currently under construction in Geismar, La., is a 50-50 joint venture between Tyson Foods Inc. and Syntroleum Corp. that will use automation and process control technology designed by Emerson Process Management of Austin, Texas. "This is a hydrotreating plant, which involves high temperatures, high pressures and catalytic reactors, in addition to handling hydrogen gas," said Jeff Bigger, president of Syntroleum. Scottish group buys Argent Energy

A Scottish consortium has bought out the original investors in biodiesel producer Argent Energy Plc, Motherwell, Scotland. The consortium, which includes Souter Invesments and existing managers, bought the plant from a group of investors led by Cinven Ltd. who have backed the project since its inception in 2001.READ MORE

Diesel prices rise for the fifth straight week

The U.S. national average price of diesel fuel rose 1.6 cents per gallon from $2.652 per gallon Aug. 17 to $2.668 per gallon Aug. 24, pushing diesel prices up to their highest point so far in 2009, according to data provided by the Energy Information Administration.READ MORE
