Iowa awards $1.6 million in biofuel infrastructure grants

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program board approved 35 project applications totaling more than $1.6 million during its quarterly board meeting on July 20. The awards support both ethanol and biodiesel projects.
Vertex Energy Inc. on July 25 announced the renewable diesel unit at its refinery in Mobile, Alabama, achieved the company's phase 1 installed capacity target of 8,000 barrels per day during the second quarter.

EIA: Nearly all US renewable diesel is consumed in California

California accounts for nearly all renewable diesel consumption in the United States, but most of it isn't made in the state. More than eight times the renewable diesel was consumed in California than was produced there in 2021.

The Clean Fuels Alliance Foundation commemorated significant developments for biodiesel during Clean Fuels Alliance America's board meeting in June. The Foundation has played a pivotal role in elevating national awareness of B100.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration increased its forecast for 2023 renewable diesel production in its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook, released July 11. The forecast for 2024 renewable diesel production, however, was reduced.
