Petrotec increases net sales

Germany-based Petrotec AG, a manufacturer of biodiesel derived primarily from used cooking oil, posted net sales of € 65.7 million (approximately $82 million) for its first three quarters of 2008, up 37 percent from last year.
The company's sales increased 53.8 percent in the third quarter of 2008, compared to the third quarter of 2007, "primarily due to higher production and increased sales (to which also the new biodiesel plant in Emdem contributed) and price effects," Petrotec stated in its financial report.
A 30 MMgy facility, located in the deep-sea port near Emden, Germany, commenced operations in June. The company also has a 34 MMgy facility in Borken, Germany, which went on line in 2000.
Additionally, Petrotec reported that its collection of used cooking oil feedstock expanded by 50 percent compared to the previous period. Petrotec's subsidiary Vital Frettrecycling now recycles the used cooking oil from more than 16,000 restaurants and food producers in Europe.
Petrotec attributed its growth to the internal effects of its sales team and co-operations as well as externally through mergers and acquisition activities.
