Eide Bailly sponsors energy, clean tech contest for Minnesotans
Eide Bailly LLP, a regional certified public accounting and business advisory firm, is sponsoring the Energy & Clean Tech Division for the 9th Annual Minnesota Cup. This statewide competition encourages entrepreneurs, inventors, small businesses and students to submit breakthrough business ideas in an effort to compete for $200,000 in prize money. “This is an exciting opportunity for entrepreneurs to move Minnesota forward with new business ideas and to also take us to the forefront in the ‘clean’ revolution,” said James Schmidt, an Eide Bailly partner who serves the renewable energy industry and will be a judge on the Energy & Clean Tech Review Board. “It promotes innovation in this advancing field.”
The Minnesota Cup is the largest statewide “new venture” competition in the country. Along with energy and clean tech, entrants may compete in life science and health IT, high tech, social entrepreneurship, general and student categories. Along with prizes, the competition affords entrants the opportunity to advance their new business ideas by connecting with business leaders from the University of Minnesota, Wells Fargo, Carlson, General Mills, United Health Group and various government leaders within the state of Minnesota.
Since the Minnesota Cup began in 2005, more than 7,000 Minnesotans have participated. Eide Bailly has sponsored the competition for five years. Finalists from 2009-‘12 have succeeded in raising $60 million in capital, creating jobs and brokered numerous business partnerships and distribution agreements. All entrepreneurs are encouraged to enter, from those who are just forming their vision to those who have started their business venture.
