California canola, mustard trials show promise

An ongoing project in California is researching the feasibility of growing canola and mustard crops in areas that feature poor-quality soils and water. The trials are led by USDA Agricultural Research Service plant soil scientist Gary Banuelos.

The U.K.'s National Non-Food Crops Centre has been chosen to investigate the environmental impacts of algae-based bioenergy, and help the region to formulate a long-term plan for algae. The report will include reference documents for policymakers.

Amsterdam Airport's Schiphol, KLM ground fleet runs on biodiesel

Approximately 40 ground transport vehicles in the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and KLM fleet will be powered by 100 percent biodiesel. Both parties are investing efforts in introducing more sustainable transport vehicles at the airport.

Canadian biodiesel producer Biox makes staff changes

Biox Corp. recently announced its Board of Directors has appointed Kevin Norton as the company's new CEO. Chris Clinning has been appointed to the position of executive vice president and chief financial officer. Both will lead overall operations.

REG adds Predaris as Northeast Bioheat, biodiesel manager

REG Inc. has appointed Paul Predaris as biodiesel sales manager overseeing the company's Bioheat development in the Northeast U.S. Predaris' principle duties will be working with distributors and terminals to expand the region's Bioheat market.
