Stabenow amendment to extend biodiesel tax credit voted down


Legislation that would have extended the biodiesel tax incentive through the end of the year was voted down by the U.S. Senate this afternoon. The amendment to the Surface Transportation Bill, S. 1813, was sponsored by Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich.

SarTec wins grant to build farm-scale plant using Mcgyan process


Anoka-based SarTec Corp. has been awarded $400,000 under a Minnesota ag funding initiative to support a project that will include the design and construction of a small-scale, on-farm biodiesel processor employing the company's Mcgyan technology.

Thai biochemical plant converts glycerin into epichlorohydrin


Epichlorohydrin is a feedstock for the production of epoxy resins used in corrosion protection coatings and in the electronics, automotive and aerospace industries. Solvay's new Thai plant can produce 100,000 metric tons of epichlorohydrin per year.

Florida Biodiesel sells two processors made by 70CentsaGallon.com


L T Scientific purchased the B-15 model of processor. Information released by Florida Biodiesel notes that the model can be assembled in 60 minutes and used to produce 10-gallon batches of ASTM biodiesel made from virgin or used oils, or animal fats.
