Senate extenders bill includes $1 per gallon biodiesel tax credit


The "Family and Business Tax Cut Certainty Act of 2012" proposes to reinstate the credit retroactive back to Jan. 1, 2012, the day after it expired, through Dec. 31, 2013. It also aims to expand the cellulosic biofuel credit to include algae.

The U.S. EPA said 112 million gallons of biodiesel were produced in June, reporting year-to-date production of 557 million gallons through the first six months of the year. At this rate, the industry is on track to match its 2011 record production.

REG, Maxum strike deal to offer biodiesel near Long Beach, Calif.


Under the supply agreement, the terminal will offer REG-9000 biodiesel to jobbers or large fleets beginning mid-August. Maxum Petroleum is one of the largest independent energy logistics companies in North America and will operate the terminal.

Midwestern Governors Association urges all OEMs to support B20


The Midwestern Governors Association formally asked every major diesel engine and vehicle manufacturer to support the use of biodiesel blends of at least 20 percent (B20) in all diesel-powered equipment. MGA sent a letter to 23 OEMs and automakers.

Raleigh lands grant for biodiesel production at wastewater plant


The city of Raleigh has received a $100,000 grant from the Biofuels Center of North Carolina to purchase processing equipment and begin biofuel production at the Neuse River Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project will serve as a model training site.
