API files suit against US EPA for 2013 biodiesel usage increase


The American Petroleum Institute filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Nov. 26 against the U.S. EPA for its decision to mandate the use of 1.28 billion gallons of biodiesel in 2013, a 28 percent increase from 2012.

US clean diesel auto sales increase 25.6 percent in 2012


Clean diesel automobile sales in the U.S. have increased 25.6 percent in 2012. Most recently, U.S. sales of clean diesel autos increased 21.2 percent in October 2012 over October 2011, 44 percent in September and 28.1 percent in August.

IFT announced Nov. 26 it made its first bulk sale of PerfoLiFT BD-3 (value exceeding $100,000) to a leading European biodiesel manufacturer. As part of a supply agreement, this one account is expected to generate annual revenues of about $1 million.

Big Oil is using scare tactics and leaps in logic to convince EPA that the agency's decision to boost the biodiesel mandate by 28 percent in 2013 is bad for Americans. The National Biodiesel Board says nothing could be further from the truth.

38 senators voice support for defense dept. purchase of biofuels


A group of 38 senators have signed a letter opposing two amendments that, if passed, would hinder the U.S. Department of Defense's ability to purchase and use alternative fuels. Both amendments are part of the NDAA that could take effect in 2013.
