Industry groups cheer New York State Bioheat legislation Last week, the New York State Assembly and Senate passed legislation that sets a new standard for all heating oil sold in the state, requiring it to contain at least 2 percent biodiesel (B2, known in the industry as Bioheat) by 2015. 135M gallons of US biodiesel produced in May, 504M gallons YTD Biodiesel production reached 135M gallons for the month of May, according to the latest EPA figures, putting the industry on target to once again exceed annual volume requirements under RFS. US EPA approves EcoEngineers, Genscape importer RIN QAPs The QAP program as outlined in the EPA's NPRM was written to cover only domestic production, but now RINs generated by importers on foreign production and RINs generated by foreign companies are covered by EcoEngineers' and Genscape's QAP programs. Australian Renewable Fuels restarts biodiesel exports to US Australian Renewable Fuels has recommenced exportation of biodiesel. The company's first shipment of approximately 1.5 million gallons of biodiesel is now en route to the U.S., to be followed by another shipment of 1.32 million gallons in August. READ MORE SHARE
	Muradel produces algae-based crude oil, plans demonstration plant Australian Resources and Energy Minister Gary Gray unveiled the first algae-based crude oil produced by Muradel Pty Ltd. Paris Air Show features demo flight with Amyris-Total biojet fuel The Airbus A321 aircraft powered by two Snecma CFM56 jet engines flew from Toulouse to Paris with a blend of renewable jet fuel produced by Amyris and Total. EU energy committee: 'mandatory advanced biofuels targets needed' EU Parliament committee members voted to boost advanced biofuels use by setting mandatory targets, but a reliable ILUC model must be found first. It also boosted conventional biofuel allowance from its original proposal of 5 percent to 6.5 percent. READ MORE SHARE
US House rejects farm bill; 'debilitating uncertainty' looms The House of Representatives rejected the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013. With a vote of 195 to 234, the farm bill failed to pass the House following two days of debate. The Senate passed its version earlier this month. READ MORE SHARE
Atlanta biodiesel fueling station celebrates 1st anniversary The unique station, part of the I-75 Green Corridor Project, offers biodiesel produced from waste oils in a process that uses 100 percent renewable solar electricity.
