Study shows 8,000 biodiesel jobs threatened under weakened RFS


The U.S. biodiesel industry is supporting more than 62,000 jobs and $2.6 billion in wages this year with production on pace for 1.7 billion gallons. If EPA keeps the 2014 RVO at 1.28 billion gallons, the number of supported jobs would drop to 54,500.

Ill. ethanol plant to co-locate biodiesel production on-site


Adkins Energy LLC has been awarded a $500,000 Rural Energy for America Program grant to begin construction on a $4.5 million biodiesel plant on the east side of its Lena, Ill., campus. The 2 MMgy facility is expected to begin production spring 2014.

Mewah Int'l to acquire 30 MMgy biodiesel plant in Malaysia


Malaysian palm oil refiner Mewah International Inc. announced it has agreed to purchase biodiesel assets from Gomedic Sdn. Bhd for $13 million. The assets include 25,055 square meters of land and a 30 MMgy biodiesel production facility.

Creating bio-oil from wood chips a reality at Battelle


Battelle has developed a mobile device that transforms unwanted biomass materials such as wood chips or agricultural waste into valuable bio-oil using catalytic pyrolysis. The unit converts one ton of wood waste into 130 gallons of bio-oil per day.
