UT Austin engineer rewires yeast cells for high lipid content


Researchers at The University of Texas at Austin's Cockrell School of Engineering have developed genetically engineered yeast cells from the Yarrowia lipolytica strain that can convert up to 90 percent of their cell mass into lipids.
