FHR, Benefuel to complete Beatrice biodiesel retrofit in 2015


Flint Hills Resources will begin retrofitting the Beatrice, Neb., biodiesel plant for a planned commencement of operations during the summer of 2015. Once the Duonix Beatrice plant is operational, it will produce approximately 50 MMgy of biodiesel.

Kan. ethanol plant to build renewable diesel facility on site


Mike Erhart, CEO of Prairie Horizon Agri-Energy, announced the formation of a partnership with WB Services LLC to expand its biofuels footprint by integrating a 3 MMgy renewable diesel production facility into the existing 40 MMgy ethanol plant.

Biodiesel industry welcomes RFS court ruling on 2013 requirements


A statement was issued May 6 by the NBB after a U.S. appeals court denied a petroleum industry challenge to the 2013 renewable fuel standard (RFS) requirements. In short, NBB says the RFS is working, so the petroleum industry should get on board.

Chemical company Evonik Industries is investing in the Northville, Mich.-based algae technology startup, Algal Scientific Corp. Evonik is part of an investors' consortium that is investing more than $3 million in a Series A financing round.

New renewable fuels retail station breaks ground in Iowa
