Three oil companies meet UK biofuels standard

In its first mid-year report, the United Kingdom's Renewable Fuels Agency said only three companies obligated to report were above all three of the 2008-'09 targets set by the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation, which has set a target of 30 percent of biofuels meeting environmental sustainability standards.READ MORE

Germany's AGQM approves 13 biodiesel stabilizers

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has developed a method to accelerate stability testing of biodiesel fuel and identified additives that enhance stability at high temperatures.READ MORE

Flometrics to launch biodiesel-powered rocket

Carlsbad, Calif.-based Flometrics Inc. plans to launch a biodiesel-powered unmanned rocket from the Mojave Desert in California later this winter. The company recently tested B100 in a RocketDyne LR-101 rocket engine and found the performance of biodiesel to be within 4 percent of RP-1 kerosene rocket fuel.READ MORE

Pennsylvania biodiesel mandate to take effect

Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell announced Jan. 15 that the state has met the first in-state biodiesel production threshold of 40 MMgy. As a result, within one year every gallon of on-road diesel sold in Pennsylvania must contain a minimum of 2 percent biodiesel.READ MORE

NBB to hold first-ever public day at conference
