Renewable Energy Group reports Q4, full year 2014 financials


The largest U.S. biodiesel producer sold 287 million gallons of biomass-based diesel in 2014, pulling in revenues of $1.27 billion for the year. Its production capacity increased to 332 MMgy in 2014 while expanding its product lines and into Europe.

Neste Oil claims world leadership in biofuels from waste, residue


In 2014, Neste Oil produced more than 420 million gallons of renewable fuel from waste and residues, enough to power all 650,000 diesel cars in Finland for two years. Waste and residues comprised 62 percent of its feedstock last year.

Wyo. imposes 24-cent-per-gallon tax on alternative fuels


Wyoming Gov. Matthew H. Mead recently signed a bill (HB0009) into law imposing a fuel tax on previously exempt alternative fuels such as biodiesel and ethanol. The new rate of taxation on alternative fuels beginning July 1 is 24 cents per gallon.

Gevo sells its alcohol-based biojet fuel to NASA


Gevo announced that NASA bought its biojet fuel for aviation use at its research center in Cleveland, Ohio. Gevo's biojet fuel is manufactured at its demonstration biorefinery located in Silsbee, Texas, using renewable isobutanol made in Minnesota.
