AGQM develops no-harm test for biodiesel heating oil stabilizers


Due to increasing demand for biodiesel-blended heating oil, the German biodiesel quality management association AGQM is offering for the first time a test to assess oxidation stabilizers for FAME that is intended for blending with heating oil.

REG acquires various KiOR plant assets for $1.5 million


After receiving court approval, REG Synthetic Fuels is purchasing certain equipment from the bankrupt KiOR cellulosic diesel plant in Mississippi, including a 12-million gallon hydrotreating unit, distillation column and tankage, for $1.5 million.

Hawaii regulators approve biodiesel contract for HECO plants


The contract between Hawaiian Electric and Pacific Biodiesel Technologies to supply biodiesel for Oahu power generators has been approved by Hawaii regulators. The two-year contract starts in November and is for a minimum of 2 MMgy and up to 3 MMgy.

Propel Fuels is now offering Neste Oil's NExBTL renewable diesel in the San Francisco Bay Area on West A Street in Hayward, California. Marketed as Diesel HPR (High Performance Renewable), the fuel consists of 98.5 percent NExBTL renewable diesel.

Another sentencing in Las Vegas for int'l biodiesel fraud scheme


Alex Jariv was sentenced Sept. 25 in federal court to 30 months in prison and three years of supervised release for his role in illegal schemes to generate and sell fake biodiesel credits. He is the third to be sentenced in this RIN fraud scheme.

CARB affirms biodiesel as lowest-carbon fuel in revised LCFS


The California Air Resources Board finalized the state's revised low carbon fuels standard Sept. 25. The new standard affirms that biodiesel reduces greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50 percent and often by as much as 81 percent vs. petroleum.
