India exempts biodiesel input materials from central excise tax


The Indian government issued a notice Oct. 19 stating it is exempting goods used for production of biodiesel from central excise tax. The specific biodiesel inputs that are now exempt are RBD palm stearin, methanol and sodium methoxide.

Gov. Jerry Brown signed AB 1032 into law, correcting a tax problem and clearing the way for a significant increase in the volumes of biodiesel blended in the state. The bill adds biodiesel to the law allowing for refunds on nontaxable fuel.

US EPA invites comments on GHG emissions analysis of jatropha oil


The U.S. EPA is inviting comment on its analysis of the greenhouse gas emissions attributable to the production and transport of jatropha oil for biodiesel, renewable diesel and other biofuels to qualify as part of the renewable fuel standard.

Seattle suburb signs new, improved biodiesel contract


The city of Bellevue, Washington, announced a new contract for blended biodiesel to be used in its fleet. The city will now utilize biodiesel made from used cooking oil instead of virgin crop oil, and it will increase the blend from 15 to 20 percent.

The city of Oakland, California, began filling up its vehicles with Neste's NEXBTL renewable diesel in order to reduce the emissions of its municipal fleet. Oakland is the first major U.S. city to convert its entire fleet to renewable diesel.

Portuguese biodiesel firm IncBio completes new HQ renovations


Portugal-based biodiesel engineering company IncBio has completed renovations on its new headquarters in Maia to accommodate growth. IncBio says it is growing at a rate of more than 300 percent in 2015. The move from Porto began late last year.
