Volkswagen fuels race cars with biodiesel

Houston-based race fuel supplier Hyperfuels was recently selected to provide biodiesel-blended fuel for Volkswagen's 2009 Jetta TDI Cup race season. Volkswagen's race cars will be fueled with a synthetic B5 sold by Hyperfuels as "SynDiesel." This is the first year Volkswagen will use biodiesel in its racing cars.READ MORE

Scientists argue against indirect land use

On March 2, 111 of the nation's top scientists submitted a letter to California Gov. Nova Biosource Fuels to idle biodiesel plants

According to a Feb. 27 document filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Nova Biosource Fuels Inc.'s board of directors has authorized management to idle the company's Seneca, Ill.-based biodiesel plant and suspend plans to restart its Clinton, Iowa-based biodiesel refinery.READ MORE

EBB: Europe's tariff will level playing field

A meeting held March 3 by the EU Anti-Dumping Committee could result in a decision to impose tariffs on U.S.-produced biodiesel, according to European Biodiesel Board Secretary General Raffaello Garofalo. The EU Commission will publish a definitive confirmation, but all indications are that tariffs of varying rates will be imposed on U.S. biodiesel beginning March 13.READ MORE
