US EPA seeks comments on SRE portion of proposed REGS rule


The U.S. EPA announced April 12 that it will reopen the comment period on one aspect of proposed rule issued in 2016 in an effort to “expand transparency surrounding the small refinery exemption program and provide further opportunity for input.”

BASF to expand sodium methylate production capacity in Brazil


BASF will increase the production capacity for its sodium methylate plant in Guaratinguetá, Brazil. The nameplate capacity will increase by 30 percent, from 60,000 metric tons to 80,000 metric tons. The new capacity will come online in 2020.

Bipartisan extension of biodiesel tax credit intro’d in US House


Rep. Abby Finkenauer, D-Iowa, introduced the Biodiesel Tax Credit Extension Act, a two-year extension of the biodiesel incentive, April 4. Congress had previously extended the tax credit retroactively for 2017 but left it expired for 2018 and beyond.
