NBB opposes RIN reform proposals, supports opening market to E15


The National Biodiesel Board filed formal comments April 29 on the U.S. EPA’s proposed rule to modify fuel regulations to allow E15 and to modify the RIN market regulations. While NBB supports E15, it said RIN market reforms are unnecessary.

US EPA: 40 SRE applications now pending for compliance year 2018


The U.S. EPA released updated data on small refinery exemption (SRE) petitions April 18, reporting that there are now 40 pending SRE applications for compliance year 2018, up from 39 pending as of March 28. No other changes were made to the data.

Pacific Biodiesel Technologies and its founders Bob and Kelly King announced April 22 the development of Maui’s first state-licensed industrial hemp farm, operating under the Kings’ personal entity. The operation will be fully powered by biodiesel.

Jury finds Keystone Biofuels owners guilty of fraud, false claims


Following a 14-day jury trial in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Keystone Biofuels owners Wootton and Miner were found guilty of making false statements to the EPA, conspiracy to defraud the IRS, and aiding the filing of a false claim with the IRS.
