RFS waivers by Trump’s EPA push World Energy to close 3 plants


World Energy is closing three biodiesel plants in Georgia, Mississippi and Pennsylvania as a direct result of the Aug. 9 decision by Trump’s EPA to grant 31 new small refinery waivers from the nation’s Renewable Fuel Standard to oil companies.

Neste introduces IMO 2020 fuel, announces new US partnership


Neste Corp. announced it will introduce a new fuel, Neste Marine 0.5, in the fourth quarter of this year, helping shippers comply with the IMO 2020 sulfur cap of 0.5 percent. The company also announced a partnership with McCall Companies in Oregon.

UFOP: Planned antisubsidy duties on palm biodiesel ineffective


Germany-based UFOP has drawn the conclusion that the preliminary antisubsidy duties of 8 to 18 percent on Indonesian biodiesel will not reduce imports of palm methyl esters. The organization calls on the EU Commission to impose higher tariffs.

Renewable Energy Group reports Q2 financial results


REG’s revenues for the second quarter were $560.6 million on 197.4 million gallons of fuel sold. The company sold nearly 15 percent more fuel in Q2 this year compared to Q2 2018. Adjusted EBITDA in the second quarter was negative $42.3 million.

Gevo, Air Total enter into biojet fuel purchase, sale agreement


Gevo Inc. announced Aug. 13 that Air Total International SA and Gevo have entered into a partnership agreement to produce and supply sustainable aviation fuel for use and distribution in France and other parts of Europe.
