BBI International has moved the 2020 International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo and co-located Biodiesel Production Technology Summit to Omaha Aug. 24-26 due to COVID-19. The events were originally scheduled to be held in Minneapolis this June.

Bill authorizes $600 million to support biofuel infrastructure


Rep. Abby Finkenauer, D-Iowa, announced April 28 the introduction of the Clean Fuels Deployment Act of 2020. The bill aims to provide funding for installing and converting fuel pump infrastructure to deliver higher blends of ethanol and biodiesel.

The API on April 6 sent a letter to U.S EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler petitioning the agency to reconsider and revise its final rule that set 2020 RVOs under the RFS and the 2021 RVO for biomass-based diesel.

The Canadian government announced April 24 it will delay publication of proposed regulations for the liquid fuel class of its Clean Fuel Standard until fall 2020 due to extraordinary circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

EPA: 1.58 billion RINs generated in March


The U.S. EPA has released renewable identification number (RIN) generation data for March, reporting that 1.58 billion RINs were generated during the month under the Renewable Fuel Standard, including 34.4 million cellulosic RINs.

Supreme Court to consider RFS point of obligation case on May 15


The U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to consider whether it will review a challenge to the Renewable Fuel Standard point of obligation on May 15. Court documents related to the challenge were distributed to the Justices on April 22.

Precedent exists for EPA to reject RFS waiver requests by states


Governors from five oil states sent letters asking EPA to waive 2020 RFS volumes due to the coronavirus crisis. Biofuel groups provide a number of reasons the requests should be rejected, including EPA precedent and federal court decisions.

Chicago suburban fleets recognized for B20 use


Two Chicago-area fleets rank among the 100 Best Fleets in the Americas, an annual list of the top public fleets in North and South America. Both fleets fuel their diesel vehciles with B20, according to the Illinois Soybean Association.
