Oil refinery retrofit secures $365 million in capital partnership


Orion Energy Partners, GCM Grosvenor and Voya Investment Management have formed a capital partnership worth $365 million with Bakersfield Renewable Fuels, which plans to retrofit an existing Southern California oil refinery to make renewable diesel.

U.S. imports of biomass-based diesel grew 26 percent in 2019 to more than 27,000 barrels per day, ending two years in a row of decline. Imports increased in 2019 because of the increase in renewable diesel imports from Singapore.
