Washington Senate passes Clean Fuel Standard bill


The Washington Senate on April 8 voted 27 to 20 in favor of H.B. 1091, a bill that aims to establish a state-wide CFS. The amended legislation will now be considered by the House, which passed an earlier version of the bill on Feb. 27.

Illinois bill aims to enact B20 mandate


Legislation currently pending in the Illinois General Assembly aims to create a state-wide renewable fuel standard (RFS) that would implement a biodiesel mandate requiring a B20 blend for transportation fuel beginning in mid-2024.

Total begins producing sustainable aviation fuel in France


Total has begun producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at its La Mède biorefinery in southern France and its Oudalle facility near Le Havre. The biojet fuel, made from used cooking oil, will be delivered to French airports starting in April 2021.

Missouri House passes bill to implement B10 mandate


The Missouri House of Representatives on March 31 voted 88 to 40 in favor of the Missouri Made Fuels Act, or HB 529, which aims to implement a biodiesel mandate within the state. Companion legislation is pending in the Missouri Senate.

DOE offers $61.4 million for biofuel, bioenergy projects


The DOE on April 8 announced it will award $61.4 million to support the development and demonstration of bioenergy projects, including those focused on marine and aviation fuels, cellulosic sugars, separations technologies, wood heating, and RNG.

US farmers to plant 87.6 million acres of soybeans in 2021


U.S. agriculture producers intend to plant an estimated 87.6 million acres of soybeans in 2021, up 5 percent when compared to last year, according to the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service’s March 31 Prospective Plantings report.
