Vertex to produce renewable diesel at Louisiana refinery


Vertex Energy Inc. on May 26 announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire an oil refinery located in Mobile, Alabama. The company plans to convert a portion of the facility to renewable diesel production.

Chevron Lummus Global LLC and Applied Research Associates Inc. on June 3 announced that the companies have been awarded a technology contract by ReadiFuels-Iowa LLC for its renewable diesel and SAF project in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Biden’s 2022 budget includes funds for SAF, biofuels, bioenergy


President Biden on May 28 released his proposed budget for fiscal year (FY) 2022. The budget includes proposed support for biofuels; biorefinery, renewable chemical and biobased product manufacturing; renewable energy; and sustainable aviation fuel.

USDA: US biodiesel exports at 69,489 metric tons in April


The U.S. exported 69,488.5 metric tons of biodiesel and biodiesel blends of B30 or greater in April, up from 37,605.6 metric tons in March, but down from 74,201.6 metric tons in April 2020, according to data released by the USDA FAS on June 8.
