A monumental storm

I can't believe how much snow got dumped on the Eastern and Southeast U.S. this past week. In Norfolk, Va., near where I grew up, they got a foot. It's the first time in years they've received that much snow. Usually it's just a couple inches all year round that falls, which quickly melts. However, I remember back in the late 70s or early 80s, we got dumped on in a similar fashion.

Associate Editor Erin Voegele reached out to several industry stakeholders on the East Coast to do a story on how the weather is affecting the biodiesel industry. Well, due to the snow, coupled with the Holiday week between Christmas and New Year's, many folks were unable to be reached, but she talked to a few people and was able to put together an interesting story about delayed trains, production issues and more. Check it out in the accompanying newsletter or on our website under Latest News.

Have a safe New Year celebration, and for those of you who don't get snow very often and have found tons of it surrounding you, yes it's an inconvenience – but try to have some fun in it!
