Dow Chemical releases new resin for biodiesel purification

May 25, 2007

Dow Chemical Co. has introduced a new high-capacity ion exchange resin for the biodiesel industry. Dowex DR-G8 is a dried cation resin that will remove trace salts, soaps, glycerin and other impurities from biodiesel. The resin also acts as a desiccant to remove and bind trace water after the phase separation and demethylation steps. It is a product for the final polishing of biodiesel to meet European and U.S. standards, and is not a substitute for the bulk separation and washing steps. For more information, visit www.dow.com.
