Dynamic Fuels selects renewable diesel site

January 1, 2008

Dynamic Fuels LLC has selected Geismar, La., as the location of its first renewable diesel production facility, which is slated to be operational in 2010. Tulsa, Okla.-based Syntroleum Corp., a partner in the Dynamic Fuels joint venture with Tyson Foods Inc., said the $135 million plant will be adjacent to a Lion Copolymer facility. The site was chosen to utilize existing infrastructure and available hydrogen needed in Syntroleum's patented and trademarked Biofining process. The 75 MMgy plant will produce renewable synthetic diesel and jet fuel using low-grade fats supplied by Tyson. Syntroleum's process is adapted from its Synfining process, which produces synthetic diesel from Fischer-Tropsch products derived from natural gas.
