GPRE merges with GLC, relocates corporate headquarters

October 3, 2007

Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc. (GPRE) has entered into a definitive merger agreement with Everly, Iowa-based Great Lakes Cooperative (GLC), a full-service cooperative that specializes in grain, agronomy, feed and petroleum products in Iowa and southwestern Minnesota. According to GPRE CEO Wayne Hoovestol, the merger would make GLC a wholly owned subsidiary of GPRE, a move that was pending GLC shareholder approval at press time. In addition, GPRE moved its corporate headquarters from Shenandoah, Iowa, to Omaha, Neb. GPRE currently owns two 50 MMgy ethanol plants in Iowa: one currently operational in Shenandoah and the other under construction in Superior, Iowa, which is expected to begin production in early 2008.
