Imperium Renewables breaks ground on nation's largest biodiesel plant
December 15, 2006
Imperium Renewables celebrated a groundbreaking on what would be the largest biodiesel plant in the United States, once it is operational next year. The company is building a 100 MMgy manufacturing facility at the Port of Grays Harbor in Washington.
"We stand here today to celebrate not just the foundation of a physical plant but the foundation of an entire movement-a movement away from our dependence on foreign oil toward reliance on renewable, homegrown biofuels; a movement away from heat trapping petroleum fuels to cooler, clean-burning biodiesel; a movement away from old energy economy despair to new energy economy promise," said John Plaza, founder and president of Imperium Renewables. "I am thrilled to see this great facility begin to take shape."
U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., and U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Wash., were among the dignitaries involved with the event.
