More rockers rolling on biodiesel

December 15, 2006

The Barenaked Ladies are getting on the biodiesel bandwagon-or bus-by burning biodiesel blends in their four tour buses and three trucks.

"We're looking forward to reducing the amount of waste and CO2 emissions we create on tour," said Barenaked Ladies bassist/vocalist Jim Creeggan. "Now that technologies like biodiesel, renewable energy and compostable products are available, it has made it possible for us to take action against environmental threats. We hope the concert industry will take the opportunity to use these innovations, as well. There isn't time to wait."

The band is touring on B20. The National Biodiesel Board (NBB), which teamed up with the environmental organization Reverb, is assisting them with biodiesel fuel procurement. For more information on tour dates and biodiesel usage, visit www.bnlmusic.com or www.reverbrock.org/barenakedplanet.

In the past year, the NBB has assisted many tours with finding biodiesel, including Dave Matthews Band, Bonnie Raitt, Indigo Girls, Guster, the Black Crowes and more.
