At the Indiana State Fair in August, the Indiana Soybean Board signed an agreement with the Indiana Corn Grower's Association and Indiana Corn Marketing Council to pool their efforts in building stronger market demand for soybeans and corn, and provide better service to Indiana farmers.
Beginning immediately, the Indiana Soybean Board will manage the 2005-'06 program activities for the two corn organizations that will focus on ethanol promotion, research and commercialization of new corn uses, and stronger biofuels and check-off program legislation. The Indiana Soybean Board already has a similar agreement with the Indiana Soybean Growers Association.
"As we move Indiana agriculture forward, we must create partnerships that will increase efficiency, speak in common voices and grow demand for Indiana farmers," said Becky Skillman, Indiana Lt. Governor and Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The Indiana Soybean Board is made up of 36 elected farmers, who direct investments of soybean check-off funds on behalf of more than 25,000 Indiana soybean farmers. For more information, visit www.indianasoybeanboard.com.
