Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance seeks qualified auditors
The Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance announced it is actively searching for professional auditors in the U.S. to perform sustainable biodiesel certification audits. The organization is requesting curriculum vitaes (CVs) from qualified auditors.
The SBA has created an independent third-party certification process and branding system for the production, distribution and sale of sustainable biodiesel to fulfill the need for objective environmental and sustainability standards within the U.S. industry. Businesses seeking certification must be a member of the SBA and complete an independent third-party audit using SBA guidelines and metrics.
“Auditing biodiesel production facilities is rewarding as you will be involved in a program that documents and reinforces the importance of sustainability,” said Kent Bullard, SBA secretary and certification committee member.
SBA anticipates developing a nationwide database of local or regional resources for certification candidates to help keep costs down for potential certified biodiesel companies. To accomplish this, the organization is requesting CVs from qualified auditors across the country. Those who are approved will be added to the SBA resource database of professionals eligible to bid on future certification audits.
The minimum requirements for potential auditors include environmental ISO14 ISO9 (services and production); BQ-9000 or equivalent experience; experience auditing grease recycling, waste, agriculture, etc.; a degree with focus on renewable fuel production or sustainability; and continuing education in updated standards and technologies.
SBA says CVs will be accepted and reviewed by its board of directors’ certification committee on an ongoing basis. CVs can be submitted to SBA Administrator Shauna Watt.
