The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) has taken its membership services on the road. Members have the opportunity to attend three board meetings per year, but the NBB is also giving its members some of the focused attention they deserve in an effort to strengthen the industry. The NBB is holding regional open-forum meetings with its members.
These informal meetings, so far held in Texas and Iowa, have included addresses by NBB CEO Joe Jobe and other NBB staff. Meeting hosts included NBB Technical Director Steve Howell, MARC-IV's Alan Weber, NBB Technical and Regulatory Engineer Don Scott, petroleum consultant Hoon Ge, the Biodiesel Coalition of Texas and the Iowa Biodiesel Board.
The meetings provide a chance for members and staff in the NBB's rapidly growing membership to get to know each other. The NBB wants to learn about the members' concerns and regional issues, with suggestions on what members think the NBB should be doing. The NBB also shares information on some of the industry's top priorities, including technical developments. The staff also focuses on the importance of grassroots engagement in public policy that will inevitably shape the members' businesses in the months and years to come.
