Earthrace begins new trial

May 14, 2008

Earthrace, a biodiesel-powered trimaran, left the Vulkan Shipyard at the port of Sagunto, Spain, on April 27 to make a second attempt at a world record for circumnavigating the globe. The powerboat will run on B100 with a zero-carbon footprint.

The crew of the 78-foot vessel hopes to complete the voyage in less than 65 days. The existing record of 74 days, 23 hours and 53 minutes was set in 1998 by a United Kingdom boat, called Cables and Wireless Adventurer.
