Swiss authorities nix Neste biojet fuel project at Geneva Airport
The Swiss authorities have decided not to commit to a biojet fuel project with Neste Corp. announced last year, which would have replaced 1 percent of the jet fuel used at Geneva Airport with renewable jet fuel made by Neste.
According to Neste, “A case for project facilitation funding was made to the Swiss authorities, which, after a long period of consultation, decided not to commit to the project.”
Kaisa Hietala, a Neste executive vice president, said while the decision is admittedly a disappointment, it will not stop the company’s efforts to collaborate with other airports and airlines.
“Over the past months we have gained tremendous knowledge around developing renewable jet fuel supply chains, which complement existing airport infrastructure and operations,” Hietala said. “We are looking forward to leveraging this knowledge in the future collaborations.”
