EPA publishes request for substantiations of confidentiality

The U.S. EPA has published a notice in the Federal Register requesting substantiations of confidentiality claims from businesses that have submitted reports and transactional information on the renewable fuel standard (RFS).

In a notice posted to its website, the EPA explained that is have received a request under the Freedom of Information Act for certain records submitted to the EPA under the RFS between Jan. 1, 2011, and November 2014. The records requested were submitted to the EPA under the RFS program’s annual, quarterly and transactional information reporting under within the EPA’s Moderated Transaction System (EMTS). “EPA has published a notice in the Federal Register requesting substantiations of confidentiality claims from businesses that have submitted any or all of the information listed in the notice and are claiming the information as confidential business information (CBI),” said the EPA in a notice posted to its website.

Comments must be postmarked or delivered to the EPA by Jan. 9. Additional information is available on the Federal Register website.
